Interesting concept! I haven’t heard of it before, but I do like Candy! Particularly the homeschooling type! Thanks for the pictures of your adventures with apples! I’d love to press some…someday!

I have just recenlty discovered your blog and bookmarked it. There seems to be so much I want to read. I love what I’ve read already.

I have heard that the book you are offering is a great book. I could really use this in my pursuit of excellence in our home school. By His Grace Academy would profit handsomely. Thank you for the opportunity.

I read “A Thomas Jefferson Education Home Companion” first.
I feel unresolved until I get my hands on A Thomas Jefferson Education!

OK my dear Kerry, you have peaked my interest…Blog Candy is something I’m totally new to…but it sounds like a fantastic idea! Just another reason for me to read your blog, and maybe now this will convince me to post comments more often! LOL
I really enjoyed your article about boys and reading (or lack there of?!). My son is almost 13, and I can’t get him to pick up a book voluntarily, and the fuss I get when I tell him he has a reading assignment! Now, if I can get him to interact about what he likes/doesn’t about a book, that will be a huge improvement from the every-day whining and complaining about actually having to read.
I am also completely sympathetic about our body having it’s own seasons too…with the change in temps here in Canada, my MS, fibromyalgia AND rhumatism are all acting up together, and it’s driving me nuts!
Looking forward to reading much more, and commenting more often too!
Blessings!
Steph

Got your message about “blog candy,” which is a new term for me. I also posted a comment on your son’s disinterest in P&P, and saw, too, that he had trouble during read-alouds, as my son does.
Thanks for the ideas about keeping his hands busy. Now if I could only keep his mouth quiet, we’d be in business!
Blessings,
Susan

Glad to have found your blog – and even gladder (is that a word??!) that you’re giving away a book. As you can see from my username, I’m rather fond of books!
I don’t know what variety of apples you were pressing, but looks a great time. Our current favorite apple for eating is the HoneyCrisp. I don’t know if you can find it in your area or not, but it is delicious!

Hi Kerry,
I have a paperback copy of this book, but a hardback would be nice! Thanks for all you do to inspire homeschool families.

Hi Kerry This is my first year homeschooling and it’s 5 kids ages(14,12,10,8,4) so I really shocked family and friends! I jumped right out of the BOX –love all your helpful advice! seems just when I’m needing advice there’s an e-mail waiting from you with what I needed to hear.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments! I hadn’t even thought of the idea of “blog candy store”! How cute!
I’m glad my comments about my son & reading have been helpful to some of you. I mentioned it at dinner tonight and his older sister looked at him & said “Don’t say anything around here because it might end up on Mom’s blog”!!!

I needed some encouragement, and I appreciated your blog. I think it is very kind of you to give away a copy of A Thomas Jefferson Education, and hardback, no less! I would like to be entered for a chance to win. This book is on my dream list, but there are many more pressing items that have to come before it. Thanks for letting me enter.

I have never “blogged” before, but I have heard people talk about it. Your site seems like a wonderful place to begin… and what an incentive! Blog Candy… I love it!! and the prize is a book to treasure – I have heard a lot about it but have never picked it up to read myself. So, even if I don’t win, I will go out and purchase a copy to read.
Thank you!

Hi Kerry,
Wow, Blog Candy!! And it’s sugar free and perfect for all us homeschool bookworms.
You’ve got a great blog with a wealth of information that is extremely helpful to any homeschooler. I really appreciate your generosity in sharing your life so that others may learn and be inspired in their own homes.
Mentoring is the best way, tried, tested and true for ages gone by. Since we have been public schooled it’s easy to repeat that model at home but with mentoring as you share in your writings we are enabled to change the course to a more enriching success.
Thank you Kerry! And thank you for reminding us to post comments…it is a great way to share!
Peace to you and yours, Donna

I read this book about a month ago and have started applying the principles in our home. I have already seen a big difference. The kids and I are enjoying each other much more. A lot of the “will they learn it all?” stress is gone and I am a better mother!! I absolutely love these principles. I have also learned the value of literature. I don’t think I’ve read a book of fiction since high school. I always read non-fiction so I could “read to learn”. Now I see so much more value in good literature and am doing more studying myself as well as with the kids. I would love to be able to have a loaner copy of the book to pass on to others these great ideas. Thanks for the offer!

Hi. I’m interested.
I would love to own that book.
My one quibble with your blog is that you tend to say “your homeschool” or “your school” (sorry — can’t check for exact phrasing). I just LOVE to use the term “home education” — because it stresses that it’s all about EDUCATION at HOME, NOT “school.” “Home learning” also works well (in my humble opinion.)
Just my little thing.
Otherwise, you seem to have lots of great things to share.

Hi Kerry,
This is the kind of candy I could truly enjoy! Seriously, I loaned out my copy of TJEd 2 years ago, and I have parts that I really want to re-read, so thanks for the opportunity.
Your family has motivated me, and I’m now putting the finishing touches on my first eBook. I’ll let you know when I’m ready to launch. Thanks for being a blessing and helping me to give myself a kick in the pants!

I love to read as do most of my children. I have one who will read: he is currently reading the Hardy Boys series, but he isn’t nearly as voracious as the others. Thanks for offering this “Blog candy”. I had never heard of such a thing before.

I haven’t heard of blog candy. It’s a neat idea, though.
I have heard of the book A Thomas Jefferson Education, just haven’t read it yet. I admit I’m a book addict, so I try to check things out from the library as much as possible. The problem is that this type of book often isn’t available in the library.
Would still like to read it, though… So many books, so little time!
Blessings,
Amber

First off, I have to say that I can’t believe you let your son be seen in a Texas A&M sweatshirt in public. (Can you tell I went to UT?)
OK, now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your blog and the emails I get from you and Stephen. I look forward to reading your emails when I see one in my inbox. I would love a copy of this book. With four boys to educate, it would be a great help!

I’m dying to read this book!! It’s been on my wish list for some time and I just read more about it this morning on your web page and determined to find a way to get it despite an empty purse!
Your apple-picking pictures brought back sweet memories of picking apples with my son and two neices when he was 5 (16 years ago!) – made me realize I need to get my girls out (7 and 9) and share the experience with them as well. My grandpa used to have a press and make his own apple juice – there was nothing like it!
Your website and blog is a blessing of inspiration!
May God continue to richly bless your family and your ministry.
