International Furniture Giveaway

Serving Others No Comments

Today was a special day…why?

I had the privilege to help brand new international students fill their apartments….for FREE.  Every year at this time, our church collects furniture, small appliances and other home items.  We invite international students who just arrived in Bryan-College Station to come get free items for their apartments.  Most of these students come with a suitcase and that’s all.

Last year, I was a roamer and helped at the church.  This year I was a driver.  I took the students, with their new belongings to their place.  I was amazed how many have nothing in their home.  We deliver a couch, a table with chairs or a bed so they can live more comfortably while they attend Texas A&M University.

Although this is a huge blessing to the students, it is a great blessing to me.  I was impressed with the many parents who brought their children to help.  What a lesson for life!

On another note, all students receive a welcome packet from our church.  This year we also had Bibles for them to take home…for free.  We have a Mandarin church for  our east Asia friends.  We also have an Indian ministry where our Indian friends enjoy food from India, as well as fun activities.

Our giveaway is a terrific way to begin relationships with internationals, with the hopes of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.  I have the phone numbers from a couple of the girls and plan to invite them to dinner at our home.

Love Never Fails

I didn’t plan to make another post today, but I received an email from my sister that I had to pass along.  My younger sister, Jennifer Corbin, founded the non=profit organization, Love Never Fails, in Fort Worth.  They work with at-risk kids in after school care, as well as an orphanage in Mexico.  They work on the kids’ academic and physical needs so they can eventually share the good news of Jesus Christ with them.

Love Never Fails was spotlighted on the Fort Worth news.  Here’s the clip:

I’ll be posting some more stories about the kids.

Keep Those Notes Organized…in a Fun Way!

Mentoring, Moms, Serving Others No Comments

OK…this is probably more for girls, but some guys might like it too. This is a really cool way to  organize your note cards. I started using note cards again this summer as I read the Bible and wanted to keep a record of specific topics about leadership. I’ve also used note cards to keep track of specific ideas we are studying.

Why not make this fun organizer to keep your notes?

I’ve included a link to all the directions, as well as another picture you can see to get a great idea of how to make this organizer.

Click here to get the directions:

Just print them out and start working with your children to make a great organizer.
If you decide not to do this for your own kids, why not make one for Grandma to keep her recipe cards organized?

Stampin’ Heaven

Inspire You Children, Kerry Beck, Serving Others, Stamping No Comments

I’ve been in heaven today as I browsed many new sites that have really cool card ideas.  My daughters and I are hosting a bridal shower for a friend of ours and I wanted to make a unique invitation.  Sooooo….I’ve found tons of stamping and card websites.  It’s been eye-candy for me!

As I perused the sites a found a fantastic cause for moms and their kids.  It’s called Cards for a Cause and I plan to donate some cards!  All the cards go to patients at St. Judes Hospital.  You can read all about it at A Muse News  If you don’t know how to make a card, choose one of their kits that gives you supplies for 10 cards.  There are links on the same page.

Well, I just had to pass this great idea along to all of you.
